Marcus Huish, Honorary Treasurer of the British Committee, approached the Exhibitons Branch of the Board of Trade (responsible for organising official British participation in exhibitions abroad and at home) with the request that the Government take over the pavilion - the first of many such approaches in the coming years.

A painting by John Lavery, A Lady in Pink; was purchased for the Galleria Internazionale de Arte Moderna, Venice.
